The college was established with the purpose of catering to the diverse educational needs of students of all the strata in the region. Marathi Department was established with the inception of the college on 15th June 1970Prof. Gajendra Hangergekar was the founder head of the department of Marathi department. Department has given well-known administrator as well as literary figure Shri Kautikrao Thale.Department has a great tradition of studious and devoted teaching faculty such as Prof. V.B. Shinde, Prof. Pralhad Bulbule, Prof. Sanjay Moon, Prof. Mahendra Bhaware, Dr.Suresh Paithankar, Dr.Mahesh Kharat, Present Working Faculty Prof. Dr. Dropadi Pandilwad Head of the Department and Professor. Dr. Savita Dnyaneshwar Wawge, S. B. Makasare.

Department has given well-known people like Smt. Hemangi Khoche, Justice, High-court, Mumbai. Mr. Santosh Karale is an editor in Dainik Lokmat, Dr. Dilip Birute professor in Sant Danyneshvar college Soygoan, Dr. Balu Tikhe and Danyneshvar Tikhe Assistant professor in Shri Atal Bihari Vajpaee Government Art`s Commerce College, Indore Alumni of the department are giving their services to the various fields of the society. Shri VishwajeetChavan, Alumni of the department is presently working on Local Management Council of this college. Shri Kailas Patil, former MLA, is the alumni of the department.

Department is heading towards the new destinations of academic and research excellence. Prof. Dr. D.M.Pandilwad, Head of the Department, is a recognized Ph.D research guide form Dr. BAMU, Aurangabad one Student is working under his able guidance.She has published Two book i.e. “Auto-narratives of Nomadic Tribes”and“Literature Deprived and enlightenment.”Prof. Dr. D.M. Pandilwad has one ongoing Minor Research Project entitled, “A Study of Socio-Economics and Education Status of Tribe in Vaijapur Tehsil.”Prof. Dr. Savita Dnyaneshwar Wawge isa recognized research guide for Ph.D. of Dr. BAMU, Aurangabad his able guidance two student completed Ph.D. and two students are ongoing She has published Two book “Striwadi Kadmbariche Prarmbhik Yug ” and “Striwadi Kadmbariche Adhunik Yug”.The department having 497 students are currently enrolled with the department and pursuing excellence and life skills for their bright.
